The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also have carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also, vacuum bot and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
